MATHEMATICS


The Mathematics Department of SNS-B organizes two Master programmes accredited by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS). More than 50 students graduated from our Department since the opening in 2001, most of them choosing to follow a research career in Mathematics.

In 2006, the Mathematics Department was awarded a three-year grant from the Clay Mathematics Institute.

In the frame of the co-operation agreement between the French Embassy in Bucharest, the Foundation Sciences Mathematiques de Paris, the Institute of Mathematics "Simion Stoilow" and SNS-B, the Mathematics Department of SNS-B has opened the call for applications for five M2 scholarships (see the announcement in romanian). In the presence of Prof. Cedric Villani (Fields medalist in 2010), the French Embassy in Bucharest, the Foundation Sciences Mathematiques de Paris, the Institute of Mathematics "Simion Stoilow" and SNS-B have signed on the 15th of February 2011 a co-operation agreement  (text available here; a picture from the event available here)

LOCATION

The Departments of Mathematics is hosted by the Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy. The Secretary's office can be found at the 6th floor of IMAR building.
