Spectral analysis and pseudodifferential operators

COORDINATORS:
Viorel Iftime, Gheorghe Nenciu.

HISTORY:
The seminar has been initiated in 1985 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Bucharest, by a group of researchers and PhD students coordinated by Vladimir Georgescu (at the time senior researcher at the Department of Theoretical Physics of the National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering in Bucharest - Magurele, now Directeur de Recherches CNRS at the Cergy-Pontoise University) and by Viorel Iftimie (professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Bucharest).

The aim of the seminar was the study of quantum Hamiltonians and their scattering theory. After May 1990, the seminar has been organized constantly by the Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy.

Among the people active in this seminar during its existence let us cite: Gruia Arsu, Ingrid Beltita, Horia Cornean, Sylvain Golenia, Andrei Iftimovici, David Krejcirik, Horia Manda, Nicolae Mandache, Marius Mantoiu, Petre Mironescu, Mihai Pascu, Teodor Octavian Popp, Radu Purice, Radu Teodor.

Among the guests that gave several talks in the seminar let us cite: Yves Dermenjian, Pierre Duclos, Pavel Exner, Bernard Helffer, Arne Jensen.

PRESENT ACTIVITY:
Development of the magnetic pseudodifferential calculus and its applications for the Foldy-Wouthuysen transformation and the Peierls-Onsager effective Hamiltonian.

--- On May 11, 2011, Francesco Fidaleo from Universita di Roma Tor Vergata
gave the talk: Harmonic analysis on perturbed Cayley trees and the Bose Einstein condensation.
